The MCF Karate club emerged winners in the Kenya National Individual Karate Championship held in Nairobi at Utalii Hotel on 4th June 2011. The team was made up of 27 participants from MCF Ndalani Karatekas. They were led by their Sensei, Paul Kimani. They competed in different categories in Kata and by the end of the day, the MCF team emerged winners and were awarded with 14 Gold medals, 9 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. The MCF team was also awarded with two other trophies for emerging the best team in Kenya and for being the team which presented many participants in the tournament. The team competed with other competitors in different categories and ended up battling against each other during the finals scooping the first three positions.
In the individual performances, in boys kumite 8-9 years category, all medals went to MCF with David Ng’ati, David Munyao and David Nduati emerging positions one, two and three respectively. In the 10-11 years category, the awards went to MCF’s Kitheka Kioko in position one and Chris Owino in position three while Joshua Masila scooped position one in the 12-13 years boys category. Justus Mwarome and Ojwang Hosea led in the 14-15 years and 16-17 years categories respectively.
MCF girls did equally well scooping majority of the awards in the various categories.
In the 8-9 years category, Ndunge Mwendwa emerged the best while Mercy Mueni, Mary Muthee and Soliat Asalim emerged the top three in the 10-11 years category with Monicah Mwikali leading in the 12-13 years category. Achieng Celestine, Saphia Atieno and Stella Louku scooped the top three positions respectively in the 14-17 years category. The team also won other awards for the group Kata in general.

MCF Karate Club emerged the most disciplined group of Karatekas in the Championship and their coach, Kimani Paul was appreciated for excellent training that he offered the team. Paul Kimani gave thanks on behalf of MCF and appreciated the support they continually receive from their Dad, the Founder and CEO of Mully Children’s Family, Dr. C. M. Mulli, through provision of transport and financial support in form of sponsorship for the team to attend the championships and emerge victorious. He expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the care and strength He has showered to the team.
The victory of the MCF Karate club was highlighted in Taifa Leo, a leading national daily newspaper of the Nation Media Group, on Wednesday 8th June 2011. MCF karate club has won dozens of medals in competitions held within Kenya and in the East African region in all categories. Currently, the club holds the coveted East and Central Africa Championship Trophy for Cadets. They have visited and performed in other countries including the USA and Canada. Paul Kimani has been variously awarded for emerging the best coach on various occasions where he has triumphed over his peers. Paul and others in the karate team have discovered and nurtured their talent through MCF. Mully Children’s Family is proud of Paul and the team and looks forward to more victory in major competitions and going to greater levels in Karate.
