MCF Yatta and Ndalani were galore with the head office staff who visited the projects on the 6th of August this year. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with all program activities in all departments including education, home department, medical, feeding, security services, farm operations, stores management and general project setting, to conduct joint and individual monitoring and evaluation of programmes being implemented and progress realized since January 2010, to closely interact with children and capture their testimonies on their previous and current lifestyle as well as interacting with field staff to understand the practical nature of their work on a daily basis.
The visit was successful. The staff visited the different departments in the homes including the dispensary where children and community members are given treatment, the farm, both the green houses where harvesting of French beans was in progress, the open fields where planting by the farm workers was in progress, the tree nursery, the dams and the cold room as well as the irrigation system where the farm manager, Mr. Joshua Nyalita, explained on all the processes entailed.
It is notable how MCF has put in place a state of the heart farming technology which has received Euro Gap Certification, becoming the first indigenous owned farm in the country to receive such and second after an internationally owned one. The staff interacted with the field staff as well as the children who shared their testimonies relating their current and past lifestyles. The staff shared ideas on how to improve work performance for excellent service to the children. It is commendable the transformation that Mully Children’s Family has caused in the lives of the children as well as the community through employment, medical care, provision of relief food and water.
