Students from Kabarak University, Kenya, visited Mully Children’s Family on 26th February, 2011 led by the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor. The Master of Business Administration students, entrepreneurship option who work in different sectors of the economy wanted to get a practical exposure on social entrepreneurship as well as a lecture from Dr. Mulli to enrich their studies leading to an MBA degree in entrepreneurship.
This was their first encounter ever to witness a practical representation of social entrepreneurship where business is undertaken professionally to support a humanitarian cause to increase income levels. It was a new experience for them as they were able to learn from the MCF model which is unique in nature because it has embraced a different means of ensuring it does not depend on donor support in the years to come.
Mully Children’s Family has embraced a unique model of income generation and self sustainability which has attracted partnerships from both donors and academic institutions in promoting research, education and economic development. The MCF model integrates open field and greenhouse farming where various income generation projects have been established to support the efforts of children rescue, care and rehabilitation.
As they listened to Dr. Ev. Mulli, the Founder and CEO of Mully Children’s Family delivering a lecture to them, they could hear theory translated to practice. It was an experience that will be remembered by many forever. They appreciated the opportunity to visit MCF which greatly enriched their studies.
The group of 22 students, who were also accompanied by 4 MCF beneficiaries who are students at the same institution, visited MCF Ndalani and Yatta and interacted with the children under the MCF umbrella where they gave inspirational talks as well as various other donations to the children.
Mully Children’s Family appreciates the visit by the students from Kabarak University as well as other institutions and organizations whose visit and partnership has been a great blessing to the MCF fraternity and which has positively impacted the children under MCF care. We look forward to more students of various programs, coming to MCF for practical lessons, in the years to come.
