Dear Friends,
As the year comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you the cream of God’s blessings this Christmas season and His grace and joy as we enter into 2012.MCF has grown over the past year, with your support and we continue to look forward to what the future holds with your continued backing.Take a minute to walk with us through some of the highlights of what this wonderful year held for us.
Touching the Turkana…
Recently, the MCF missions team had the chance to go to Turkana in northwestern Kenya. This area of the country is prone to long stretches of dry weather and the people constantly suffer from lack of basic needs such as food and water. Spiritual nourishment is also almost non-existent. On my previous travels to this area, it was clear that MCF could make an impact in feeding physically and spiritually. The missions team travelled up to Turkana where MCF has been stationed for the last 3 months. The missions team is still in Turkana and to date has been able to feed almost 1000 children a hot meal at lunch time and distribute dry food portions to 500 adults. We were able to then reach out to the people spiritually, with daily door-to-door evangelism which culminated in a crusade later in the day. The Turkana were fed, they saw hope in the Word of God, were prayed for and we are overwhelmed and excited by the welcome of the MCF team by Turkana. As we continue to reach out to these often forgotten people, it is our prayer that you will continue to support us in these efforts.
A Christmas bundle of joy…
Often, we rescue young children who are found in destitute situations and are not given the care that they need. This month, a special case fell into our hands. 12 year old Catherine Mwikali…she, at this tender age, with little knowledge of life itself had a child of her own. The victim of difficult circumstance, Catherine was raped by a young man who later disappeared when he heard Catherine was pregnant. Barely 5 feet tall, Catherine carried a pregnancy in the home of her widowed mother who is also HIV+ and had little to care for Catherine and her 5 siblings. She gave birth to Boniface Chule on December 2nd who now depends on a mother who also is looking outward for someone to care for her… MCF was called by a social worker and we were able to rescue this child from Kenyatta National Hopsital in the middle of the public doctor’s strike. By God’s grace, we were able to pay her bill and bring her to MCF where after healing and weaning her child, she will enter the MCF education system and receive care for herself and her child that she would have never gotten at home. Catherine’s son, like our Lord Jesus was born in the humblest of situations, and it is our hope that as we take on these two new children to the family that they will grow to be shining lights to the world….
MCF in Kampala, Uganda!
The sounds of children screaming to with delight upon seeing the MCF vans in Kampala is very pleasing to the ears… another missions team is in Kampala to spread some Christmas love to the children of the Watoto centeres. Watoto which means ‘child’ in Kiswahili is a center that cares for orphans and vulnerable children. Currently in Kampala, Uganda, we are spreading the love of Jesus to children in these homes and in the streets through evangelism and also sharing a hot meal daily with over 500 children. Its fascinating that we are welcomed outside the borders of Kenya, for rescued children to share the same love that they were shown to others, giving hope, love and joy… what a Christmas message! Soon, the whole family will be back at Ndalani to enjoy Christmas together.
It has been a fulfilling year, and I thank you for the impact that your support has made on our vision.
Spreading Christmas joy at Ndalani…!
What better way to end the year than to make sure the people in the surrounding communities of Mully Children’s Family have some food over this season. Though the rains have come, it is still hard for the people in this area to get food, and people continue to starve. So on the 23rd of December we are looking forward to distributing food portions of maize flour, beans, cooking fat, and vegetables to over 15,000 people from surrounding areas. In addition to this, about 3000 children will enjoy a hot meal of rice, beef stew and juices. We are blessed that God is able to use us in this way to bless so many people who would otherwise go hungry and unreached. We are very excited to see the people who will come and it will usher in Christmas in a wonderful way!
As we enjoy the season and step into another year of serving these precious lives, I ask you to join hands with me to make this dream a reality.
God’s peace and love this Christmas…
In His Service
