About Mully Children's Family

Education and Training

Education is a key component in MCF rehabilitation programmes. Through MCF Schools, many destitute children have ascended to higher levels of academic pursuit and today every public and private university in Kenya as well as several middle level colleges have MCF alumni or students in session. At inception, the integration of rescued street, abandoned and abused children was the greatest challenge. Attempts to enrol rescued children to public schools recorded minimal success due to stigma associated with street and or abused children, corporal punishment in public schools and general lack of concern by teachers beyond the classroom to address psychological street and or trauma the children under MCF care faced while in school.

To maintain consistency in the integration process and ensure active participation in educational programmes, MCF opened up an integrated school programme providing both primary school lessons and vocational training to tap the potentials of the targeted children. MCF today manages Two duly registered Secondary Schools, four Primary Schools and four Early Childhood Education Programmes in its branches in Kenya and managed by qualified staff who undergo regular induction to embrace family approach in providing classroom instructions. The MCF Schools has maintained sterling performance in national examinations despite most candidates having debilitating backgrounds through street life and or abandonment/neglect and exploitation. The pioneer KCSE candidates at MCF Secondary School in 2000 recorded 100% pass and attained Position One in Machakos District, all of whom have graduated from Universities/colleges and living independent lives. Likewise, the pioneer KCPE candidates in MCF Primary School in 1996 were ranked Position One in Ndalani Division and has maintained this status over 10 years.  With at least 120 KCPE candidates and 90 KCSE candidates graduating from MCF schools every year, transition to universities and tertiary colleges has been a challenge but with remarkable outcomes.
