“I declare Fredrick and Esther, husband and wife.” Rev. Syuma Musyoka said as he officiated the wedding between Fredrick Gwayumba and Esther Nzeko on the 5th of June, 2010 at MCF Ndalani Home Chapel. It was all glamour and glow as the home was galore with witnesses who came to witness the auspicious occasion. On this day, MCF joined the world in celebrating the world environmental day as well as the memorable occasion that illuminates victory and the transformation that the two have undergone in their lives.
Fredrick and Esther have been brought up at Mully Children’s Family. They were rescued from despicable conditions by the Founder and Executive Director of MCF, Dr. Ev. Charles Mulli and have accessed all the basic needs with their lives becoming transformed to become dependable and self reliant individuals.
Fredrick was born in 1982 in Kakamega, Western province. His parents separated when he was still breastfeeding. The mother abandoned him. He was brought up by his grandmother but escaped due to abject poverty in order to search for a herdsboy job.
He joined street life which came as a real shock as opposed to his hope of getting a job. He began begging on the streets. He had no place to sleep neither food to eat. He became hopeless and his future looked gloomy. However, his life took a different turn when he was rescued by Mully Children’s Family in July 1993 and began accessing all the basic needs.
Fredrick did not have a smooth educational background. He joined MCF in grade five at Eldoret and proceeded on well sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education where he performed impressively. He qualified to join MCF upper school in 1998 and completed his secondary education in 2001 with a satisfactory performance.
In 2003, he joined Alphax Computer College in Eldoret to pursue a diploma course in Business Management which he completed successfully. He began to assist at the Children’s Centre at MCF Ndalani and rose along the ranks to become the head teacher of MCF Ndalani Primary School, a position he holds to date.
Born in 1986, Esther Nzeko grew as a destitute needy girl in the semi arid areas of Kitui district in Ukambani. She is born in a family of five children. Her father was the only breadwinner but passed away in 1997 leaving the children under the care of their mother. She learnt through primary education with many difficulties being in and out of school due to lack of school fees. After sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2003, she obtained an average mark but could not continue with secondary education due to poverty.
She was rescued by MCF in January 2004 and was admitted in MCF Yatta Vocational training Centre where she trained in dressmaking and hairdressing. She accessed all the basic needs and has grown to become a self dependent individual.
Fredrick and Esther began their relationship after successfully graduating from MCF. Fredrick was all smiles as the bride was bequeathed to him to live as one, as husband and wife, glorifying God in their marriage.
The union between Fredrick and Esther is a climax and a testimony of how God can transform individuals and the good work that the Mully Children’s Family has done to restore hope to the two and many other less fortunate children who have been successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society.
